Leading up to your baby’s arrival...
As you prepare to meet your little one, we will meet to go over your birth plan and vision for your photos. This time allows me to understand your priorities, build trust, and identify how I can best support you. I want to understand your needs and desires for your photos so I can blend seamlessly into the background when your little one makes their arrival.
During labor and delivery...
Your comfort and safety are my top priorities. I work quietly and respectfully, capturing the beauty of this special moment without disrupting the flow of your birth. My goal is to be an unobtrusive presence so that you, your spouse, and your baby can peacefully experience this special moment.
Treasured memories to keep forever...
Within 3 weeks, you’ll receive a beautifully curated digital gallery of images that will allow you to relive those precious first moments for years to come.
Birth Photography Frequently Asked Questions
Will you post photos of my birth to Social Media?
Honoring and respecting your birth experience is my top priority! Prior to shooting, we will discuss your comfort level with sharing images. I’ll never share any photos without your explicit permission, and you’ll have full control over which images (if any) you’re comfortable showcasing. If you would like your images to remain private, they will not be shared on my social media, website, or as example galleries with potential moms.
Where do you shoot?
Due to the spontaneous nature of births, I will be "on call" for the weeks leading up to your due date. To account for this, I shoot within a one-hour radius of St. Louis county. This ensures that I can arrive promptly on time for baby's arrival! For scheduled caesarean sections and deliveries, I am able to extend my travel radius.
What if I don't want you to take certain photos?
I totally understand! I have had moms prefer for me to stick to photographing "above the waist." Prior to delivery, we will meet and discuss your birth plan and ideal experience. Knowing your preferences, I will honor your desires so that you have beautiful photos to commemorate such a special experience. Respecting mom's preferences to contribute to a peaceful and pleasant delivery is my top priority.
How do you keep distractions to a minimum?
Mama's peace-of-mind and a healthy delivery for mom and baby are my highest priorities when witnessing a birth. I want to be a "fly on the wall" who captures your moment, without impacting it. Prior to your birth, I will meet with you to discuss your birth plan and desires for photos. Knowing your desires ahead of time means I won't ask you questions or interrupt you during your delivery. I use a full-frame, mirrorless camera, which means I have silent shutter and high ISO which allows me to shoot without a flash while getting crisp, non-grainy photos.
Are you "on-call" prior to the birth?
Yes! Starting at 38 weeks, I’ll be on-call 24/7 until your baby arrives, ensuring I’m ready to come when you need me.
Will you be present for the whole birth?
I will arrive during active labor and stay up to an hour postpartum to capture those precious moments of baby's first breaths, and first portraits with mom and dad.
Do you charge per hour?
Nope! There are a lot of unknowns when it comes to your delivery-- I don't want the price of your photographer to be one of them! The price for birth photography is $960. This includes being on call for the weeks leading up to your birth, capturing the moments leading up to your little one's arrival, along with an additional hour postpartum to get those first portraits with you and baby. Full galleries will be delivered to you within 3 weeks.
